Apply for Creative Earth Grants for Communities
Wakefield Council are now inviting community groups/organisations across the Wakefield district to apply for a grant to help to run their own activities. We are excited to be offering the new Creative Earth Grants for Communities to support community groups across the district to engage with the Festival of the Earth themes and discover how to take positive steps forward for the environment together.
This year Wakefield Council and partners will be delivering the Festival of the Earth. The theme of the environment will be explored and celebrated in public events, exhibitions, installations and community led activity in summer 2021 as we work together to raise awareness of the climate emergency. We want communities across Wakefield to be involved in all aspects of Festival of the Earth.
We anticipate community groups applying to cover the costs to run a family fun day, arts and crafts workshops, a pop-up mini-festival, design of a community garden, or other creative activities to encourage and inspired your communities to explore the theme of the environment. All activities should be free to attend / participate. Everyone can be creative, and everyone can help to reduce their impact on our planet.
Grants will range from £150 to £500 to support a diverse range of environmentally based projects by supporting a creative response through the engagement of local artists and arts organisations. We may award some proposals up to £1,000 if the application is of merit and justifies the need for the extra support. We aim to have one community led event/activity in every ward of the district. We are also offering extra support to successful applicants, please see the guidance document for full details.
