Dandelions and Double Yellows – Your Gallery

This event is part of Creative Responses to Climate Change, an evening of creative sharing and topical conversation.

Dandelions and Double Yellows is an arts, nature and noticing project by Wakefield-based artist Helen Thomas. Over the summer, Helen invited people to take time to notice and reconsider the plants growing on our pavements, and in our everyday surroundings. These plants, often dismissed as weeds, can contribute to urban biodiversity as well as bringing colour and interest to our neighbourhoods.

This special event celebrates creative community engagement by exploring a digital gallery of participatory images, curated by Helen.

The event also features a talk by guest speaker Jack Wallington, an ecological grower and landscape designer whose first book, Wild about Weeds: Garden Design with Rebel Plants, was named Gardening Book of the Year by The Times in 2019. Like Helen, Jack has a passion for wild plants and nature.

Helen will also be speaking about this project in our panel talk, Creativity & Climate Change: A Conversation, scheduled for earlier in the evening.

Creative Responses to Climate Change will run on Thursday 28th October, 4 pm – 8 pm.

Dandelions and Double Yellows – Your Gallery is scheduled to start at 7 pm.
