Together & Apart
10 June 2021 - 20 June 2021
Open daily 10am-4pm
Former Market Hall, Union Street, Wakefield, WF1 3AE
An exhibition of work by local artists and communities from across Wakefield district during last year’s Covid-19 Lockdown
The events of last year’s lockdown forced us to be apart. In many ways, they have also brought us closer together. Closer through a shared sense of hardship as we have dealt with the consequences of a global pandemic. Closer as we adapted to a new way of living our lives. Closer through little moments of joy as we helped each other get through it. The unique spirit of the people of Wakefield shines through in every artist’s work.
This exhibition will play a vital role in commemorating difficult losses, remembering and celebrating resilience, and offering a hopeful vision for a connected and caring community going forward. The artworks displayed show community spirit and shared experiences across the district as well as celebrating our collective strength and resilience in the face of adversity caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
We hope that the exhibition will provide you with a space for reflection on the impact this momentous year has had on our daily lives, our families and our communities.
The exhibition is free to attend and booking in advance is not required.
*The former Market Hall is Covid-secure and measures will be in place to ensure the safety of all artists, staff and visitors to the space*
