Dandelions and Double Yellows – Your Gallery

Dandelions and Double Yellows - Your Gallery

An art, nature and noticing project by Wakefield artist Helen Thomas.

This online gallery is part of the Dandelions and Double Yellows project and Wakefield Council’s Festival of the Earth. The project invites you to take time to notice the plants growing on pavements, and in our everyday surroundings. These plants, which are often dismissed as weeds, can offer significant contribution to urban biodiversity as well as bringing colour and interest to our neighbourhoods, villages and towns.

Dandelions and Double Yellows - Your Gallery will feature sketches, paintings and photos of pavement plants that you have seen growing in the Wakefield District (and maybe further afield).

There will be an exhibition of Helen’s new paintings, informed by observations of pavement plants and local urban flora, at Wakefield Cathedral in July and August 2021.

Dandelions and Double Yellows is funded by Arts Council England and part funded by Wakefield Council. The project is supported by The Art House, Makey Wakey, and Wakefield Cathedral.

Final deadline for submissions Friday 23rd July 2021
