Her approach to creating art is mostly intuitive and she uses a variety of tools and materials to produce a variety of strokes and textures, building up layers and giving the observer a sense of depth and opportunity to ‘feel’ connected to a particular place, emotion or experience. What steps did you take to get where you are now? After becoming mum for the first time two years ago, my perspective on life completely changed and I decided I did not want to return to my paid employment and instead, follow my dreams of pursuing art as a career. With a background in art studies from the York College of Further and Higher Education, some years ago, I re- visited studying and practising art, through various professional art masterclasses and brushed up on my skills as well as learned new methods and found my artistic voice and purpose. Last year I was one of 12 finalists out of over seven thousand in a competition ran by the company ‘Wraptious’ to design nature inspired artworks for framed prints, canvases and vegan suede cushions. I was so pleased that, in the same year, I was also featured as a finalist in ‘Conservation Collection’ category of the ‘Sketch for Survival’ competition run by ‘Explorers against Extinction’. I am also a member of the organisation, Yorkshire Art and have recently been featured in their quarterly magazine. I also use art as an aid for helping mental health and talk about this in my recent blogs. I have just launched my new art studio within the woodland in South Wakefield, based at Earnshaws Fencing Centres. What type of creative opportunities are you looking for?Commissions for private and public spaces to create and display art which will raise awareness of conservation and biodiversity and the importance of protecting nature and our planet. Lanson 'gives back to nature' by donating 10% of all profits to charity, Rainforest Concern, for whom she is a corporate supporter. I am passionate about how art and nature are a powerful tool for supporting mental health, including experiences of loss and bereavement. I would love the opportunity to work with mental health charities or bereavement support organisations where art can help heal and act as a support tool for those who maybe experiencing depression, anxiety, bereavement.Answer as many of the following questions as you like to enhance your profile pageMy dream creative collaboration would be...Working with mental health or bereavement charities, as well as public organisations or local businesses with communal spaces, to create large impactful art which can raise awareness of these issues. What does Wakefield mean to you?Wakefield is home. It is also a diverse, culturally exciting place with beautiful countryside and of course home to many brilliant art galleries and organisations where anything could be possible. My proudest momentBecoming a mummy! Without my son, I would not be on this journey! An unexpected thing about meI travelled solo around South America in my early 20's volunteering on various conservation projects, including in the Western Ecuadorian Cloud Forests which is one of the most biodiverse places on this Earth!!!Tick any that apply to youCreative Services Architecture & Planning Creative Education Creative Producing Design Services Graphic Design Marketing & Advertising Other Product Design Set Design Technical Production Creative Content Animation Digital Content Creation Games Design Other Photography Publishing Radio & Podcasts TV & Film Creative Original Apparel & Fashion Arts & Crafts Creative Writing Fine Art Other Sculpture Creative Experiences Dance Libraries Museums and Heritage Music Other Performing Arts Theatre Creative Digital App Development AR & VR Computer Networking Other Software Development Web Design Showcase your workYour video showreel Copy and paste the URL of your Vimeo or YouTube videoUpload up to 5 showcase imagesShowcase image 1 Drop files here or Select files Accepted file types: jpg, jpeg, png, Max. file size: 10 MB.
