Consultant Needed for Kirklees Cultural Strategy

Posted in Opportunities

Kirklees Council are seeking an exciting and dynamic creative consultant, to help develop the Kirklees cultural strategy.

Kirklees Council, with support from Arts Council England and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority is looking at developing a new cultural strategy that sits together and above sister documents of the draft Heritage and Tourism strategies, the adopted Everybody Active Strategy and the Libraries Plan. It will connect to Kirklees’ shared Economic and Health and Wellbeing strategies, the Kirklees Futures Strategy for Children and Young People, the ambitious masterplans for towns and local centres across Kirklees, and key programmes such as the Cultural Heart in Huddersfield. The strategy will be about people, artists, musicians, makers, creatives, thinkers and innovators who work across all sectors.

The creative consultant will help develop the cultural strategy, with the aim of completing the process of engagement and consultation and writing through to the final approval process in December 2023. On behalf of the Council, the appointed cultural strategy consultants will lead on writing a cultural strategy that acts as an overarching strategy for Kirklees. Celebrating all the unites the district and yet allows for the nuance of difference between communities, places, and spaces.

As appointed consultants, you will lead on developing a framework for place-based delivery plans, that connects with the delivery and action plans within the draft Heritage and Tourism Strategies, the adopted and approved Everybody Active and Libraries Plan. The delivery plans will link with the master planning work within the Local centres and main urban centre regeneration programmes, as well as broader strategies where appropriate. This is to ensure the place-based delivery plans are connected and have the greatest opportunity for impact, transformation, and meaningful engagement at a local level.

The total fee is £40,000, inclusive of all expenses and VAT where applicable. There is an additional budget of £5,000 to support consultation and engagement, inclusive of marketing materials and collateral.

Apply before 9am Monday 5th December.
