
Culture Grants Awarded to District Creatives & Communities

Sixteen Culture Grants, ranging from £1,000 to £15,000, have been awarded to Wakefield district’s artists, cultural and heritage organisations, and community groups.
Recipients from the first round of funding include:
- Wakefield Music Collective for their 30th annual Clarence Park Festival with the return of the two-day free festival with two stages, 22 bands and a DJ in the evening.
- The Cluntergate Community Centre will be working with Yorkshire Arts to develop a large collaborative community mosaic. This will be permanently displayed at the centre and will be developed and made with the community groups that use the centre as well as with a local primary school.
- Apple Tree Community Group will be developing an innovative project, ‘Women Together’, that will create local networks of women in Agbrigg, Portobello, and Eastmoor to share in activities.

Apply for Culture Grants
Applications are open for Culture Grants Round 2 until 5pm, 18 July 2022.
There are four grant streams available for arts, cultural and heritage activity:
- Culture Everywhere Micro Grants – for community groups, charities, CICs, and other non-culture organisations to run small arts and culture projects, activities, and events for their local communities.
- Made in Wakefield Small Grants – for short term or smaller scale projects, with a focus on providing support to artists and creative organisations.
- Made in Wakefield Large Grants – for significant new creative work, or larger participatory project with communities, that may have longer term impact.
- Culture for Everyone Grants – to enhance the accessibility offer and provision to cultural activities across Wakefield for D/deaf, disabled, and neurodiverse creatives, audiences, and participants.
