Working within the Curatorial & Exhibitions team, and alongside colleagues in the wider Museums & Castles team, you will project manage, design and install individual exhibitions and displays across our three museums, two historic castles, and in community venues.

You will be joining us at an especially exciting time as we develop an innovative new Wakefield Library & Museum in the heart of Wakefield city centre. You will play a leading role in the development, working with the project architects and designers.

You will be responsible for ensuring our exhibitions are sustainable and use recycled and recyclable materials wherever possible, contributing to our Wakefield Museums & Castles Environmental Action Plan.

You will enable local people to coproduce inclusive and accessible exhibitions that are relevant and representative of our district, in line with the Wakefield Museums & Castles Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan.

You will work within our committed, supportive and highly skilled team, as well as alongside our diverse and passionate local communities to celebrate and share the stories and objects that make the Wakefield district unique.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Project manage innovative and high-quality exhibitions, co-ordinating input from multi-disciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Manage and oversee the design, build and installation of exhibitions and displays, using sustainable materials and practices.
  • Tell diverse stories through creative, inclusive and accessible interpretation and design.
  • Work in partnership and build relationships with a diverse range of individuals, groups and organisations.
  • Manage multiple ambitious projects within time and resource constraints, whilst maintaining patience and empathy.
