Film Wakefield: Film Club

Posted in Industry

Film Wakefield: Film Club is a free, professional‑yet‑welcoming creative meetup designed to bring the district’s screen community together every eight weeks on a Wednesday or Thursday evening. Each session runs for two hours and blends curated screenings, guided discussion, and structured networking to create a space where filmmakers, actors, writers, crew, students, and film lovers can genuinely connect.

At its heart, the Film Club is about building a consistent, recognisable gathering point for Wakefield’s creative talent. It offers a relaxed but purposeful environment where people can share work, exchange ideas, learn from one another, and spark collaborations that might not happen anywhere else. The format is intentionally structured enough to avoid the “awkward room” effect, but open enough to encourage real conversation and community.

Every edition features a short screening programme or spotlight piece, followed by a host‑led discussion that digs into craft, process, and the realities of making work in the region. The evening then shifts into guided networking, giving attendees a chance to talk about what they’re working on, what they need, and who they might want to meet.

And yes – it’s completely free. No tickets, no barriers, no pressure. Just a regular, accessible creative space designed to strengthen Wakefield’s growing screen sector and give local talent a place to gather, share, and grow.

Event dates:

Wednesday 22nd July 2026

Event taking place at: Policelot LTD 22 Tadman Street, Wakefield, WF1 5RG
