Working closely with Trigger’s Technical Director, the Lighting Assistant will play a pivotal role in ensuring equipment readiness and being readily available during both the preparation phase and live events. Throughout performances, the Lighting Assistant will also be responsible for any necessary lighting adjustments to enhance the visual experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Assist the Lighting Designer on the lighting of event.
– Assist the Lighting Designer with all design duties.
– Assist the Lighting Designer to work within the lighting budget allocation.
– Research and record the design process, making tech notes during rehearsal periods, where required.
– Employ 3D lighting visualization software, such as WYSIWYG, Vision, Capture, or MA 3D, to develop accurate and visually appealing lighting concepts and designs.
– Generate sketch storyboards to effectively communicate creative ideas and concepts visually, aiding in the planning and execution of projects.
– Generate concept drawings, utilizing both manual techniques and CAD rendering.
– Craft presentation layouts.
– Develop technical lighting plans for rigging and production purposes.
– Conduct design research.
– To stand in for the lighting designer when they are not available.
– Comply to highest standards of health and safety, and liaising with the lighting designer to ensure that the materials used are appropriate and safe.
– Attend design meetings as necessary.
– Attend feedback and evaluation meetings as is reasonably possible.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
– Proven experience as a lighting assistant in live theatre, events, or outdoor arts.
– Exceptional organizational skills to ensuring a smooth visual performance during live performances.
– Proficiency in budget management for lighting departments, with the ability to maximize resources and maintain financial control.
– Excellent communication skills for collaborating with the lighting designer, Creative Director, and other production team members, ensuring a cohesive vision for the production.
– Strong problem-solving skills to address unforeseen lighting challenges during live performances and implement quick and effective solutions.
– A creative flair for contributing ideas and suggestions to enhance the visual impact of lighting, aligning with the artistic vision of the production.
– Ability to adapt to fast-paced live theatre environments, remaining composed under pressure and addressing last-minute adjustments.
