 *The client/ Steering Group may visit the installed artwork to inspect it and ensure it is in line with the specification provided.

* It may be useful to include a snagging/ defect period of an agreed duration post installation as a requirement at the contracting stage.

* A hand over document should be signed evidencing that the client has accepted the work and is responsible for it.

* A detailed maintenance plan created, including any considerations around future decommissioning.

* Launch/ celebration event or PR and marketing activity could be delivered.

* Monitoring and evaluation

* Consider how you can share and promote the commission through social media, PR, interpretation materials etc.

These resources were developed as part of UNBOUND, an artist training & mentoring development programme for artists seeking to develop their practice to deliver artworks in public spaces, which was delivered by BEAM and YVAN in 2024/25. It was part of Our Year, and was funded by Wakefield Council, Cultural Development Fund and West Yorkshire Combined Authority.
