By Anna Berry, brought to Wakefield by Unlimited with the support of CDF.
As part of WordFest 2021, Creative Wakefield worked with Unlimited to bring an exciting temporary piece of public art to Wakefield, Breathing Room.
Breathing Room, by Anna Berry, is a large-scale, kinetic light installation - a mechanical tunnel lined with thousands of 'paper' cones that gently 'breathe' in and out. Visitors are encouraged to engage with the exhibit by walking through the tunnel, experiencing a sensory sound and light display. Over two days, twenty-two volunteers helped ensemble the installation, including art students from Wakefield College and Leeds Arts University.
The artwork was open to the public from the 23rd to the 30th of October and saw a total of 5,078 visitors.
