Meet Natalie Ratcliffe
Printmaking and Designer
What I do…
I’m a Designer working across print, products and creative workshops. My work explores colour, pattern and texture, often inspired by the natural world, using hands-on processes like flower pressing, cyanotype and experimental mark-making. Alongside freelance design for the UK homewares market and public art projects, I co-founded Still Studio Leeds, where we run workshops that encourage people to slow down, switch off and reconnect through making.
Growing up I wanted to become…
A Designer! I’ve always loved experimenting, coming up with ideas and making things happen.
When I was younger, having the official job title of “designer” felt really exciting — like I’d made it. Now, it feels much less about the title and much more about the impact the work can have — creating things that connect with people, bring joy and make the everyday feel a little brighter
The thing that surprised me most about my career…
How many different directions it can take. No two years have looked the same and I’ve learnt that being creative can lead you into all sorts of unexpected opportunities.
I still get excited by new projects and ideas and I feel really lucky to meet and work alongside so many resilient, talented Creatives who are all trying to make their own little piece of the world better through what they create.
The best advice anyone ever game me…
My dad told me when I was younger to find something you love doing and, if you can, make that your work.
I think that’s stayed with me ever since. Following your heart over your head isn’t always the easiest route, but doing something you genuinely enjoy feels key to building a happy life.
