Dreaming Methods

Immersive Digital Storytelling

What I do:

Dreaming Methods is a highly experienced studio that creates immersive and compelling fictional experiences through VR, digital art and games, with a strong focus on reimagining writing and literacy. Directors: Andy Campbell and Judi Alston.

What steps I took to get where I am now:

Operating as One to One Development Trust’s ‘in-house’ creative studio before becoming a standalone company in 2021, Dreaming Methods has worked in collaboration with many leading writers and won multiple awards across different sectors/industries, including electronic literature, publishing, primary and secondary education, and within the games industry.

What creative opportunities I'm looking for:

We’re particularly interested in developing video games, digital installations, and immersive experiences (XR or otherwise) with a literature and/or storytelling angle. If you’re looking to create a unique and accomplished digital experience with literature/storytelling at its core, definitely drop us a line!

An unexpected thing about me:

Director and Founder Andy Campbell used to be a performance poet. 🙂

My proudest moment:

We have just launched our latest project The Abandoned Library funded by XR Stories. Set in a future northern England devastated by climate change, this VR work combines nature, language and technology and has been officially selected for the Aesthetica and Bolton film festivals. It’s also a finalist in the Los Angeles Film Awards 2023.

My dream creative collaboration:

Working with dedicated, hard-working, like-minded artists with a drive to create amazing digital experiences with stories at the heart.
