Roberta Hollis
Creative Sector Engagement Officer at Creative Wakefield
I’m currently part of the Creative Wakefield team at Wakefield Council. The main part of my job involves coming up with new ways to get people like you involved with Creative Wakefield and understand everything that we have to offer!
After graduating with a Journalism degree from London College of Fashion (and lots of internships!), I started a career in fashion publications – holding positions at i-D, ELLE, Net-a-Porter and Condé Nast International.
After six years working at magazines, I became a Freelance Stylist and Art Director. This allowed me to continue working for magazines while collaborating with brands to create advertising and social media campaigns.
In 2019, I reached out to Extinction Rebellion about getting involved. They asked me to take over their Instagram account which I really enjoyed and incidentally helped steer my career in a new direction…
During the pandemic I wanted to find more work that I could do from home. I also saw this as an opportunity to look for work that was more community-focused – something I had been craving for a while. Combining my background of art direction and social media management, I started freelancing for various arts and environmental organisations as a Creative Content Manger/Social Media Manager.
At the end of 2021, I started a full-time job with Creative Wakefield at Wakefield Council! It’s really exciting for me to work on a project that celebrates the creative talent where I came from and to see the local creative landscape develop and flourish!
To meet creatives in West Yorkshire and learn how Creative Wakefield can best support you!
