One to One Development Trust

An arts organisation using digital media and creativity to work with communities

What I do:

We’re an award-winning Wakefield-based arts organisation using digital media to work with communities. One to One has a strong track record of instigating, facilitating, and delivering successful projects including the development of films, apps, websites, and interactive media including games.
We are passionate about good ideas and working on projects that make a difference to peoples lives.
We hold an extensive archive of film from around the Wakefield district spanning over 30 years

What steps I took to get where I am now:

By being open and inclusive, committed to equality, fairness, and access for all; mindful, sensitive, and respectful of people’s needs; and striving for best practice and high production standards in all aspects of our work.

What creative opportunities I'm looking for:

We embrace creative opportunities that are exciting and rewarding to work on with partners who have a similar ethic to ourselves.
We also like developing projects based on community need that come about grass roots up, where we get involved or respond creatively.
We enjoy pushing artistic boundaries, trying new things and always advancing our teams’ creative practice.
Our small team are highly skilled in different areas of creative practice – so we can work on projects with lots of elements to them

You might like to work with us on a project where we can create:
– short film (documentary, trailer, artists film)
– drone footage (CAA qualified including night training)
– create an app
– make a video game
– produce an online archive /website
– make a virtual museum/ gallery
– produce podcasts
– develop VR/AR projects
– manage a community / research project

Our partners range from other arts organisations, museums, libraries, local authorities, universities, voluntary organisations, visitor destinations (heritage)

An unexpected thing about me:

We started our life as One to One Video Co at the Westfield Centre in South Elmsall. We won an award from the Princes Youth Trust & Barclays Bank for being the “Most innovative new business idea in Yorkshire and Humberside”

My proudest moment:

It was pretty cool winning two very unexpected Wakefield Business Awards in 2021
“OUTSTANDING BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD”
“DIGITAL/TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT AWARD”

My dream creative collaboration:

Working on a project with great people, producing innovative exciting work that makes a positive difference to people lives and leaves a legacy ………… (ah, very lucky we have dream collaborations now 🙂 )

What does Wakefield mean to me?
Wakefield is where One to One was born in 1988, after its founder Judi Alston graduated from Bretton Hall College. Wakefield means so much and wherever we've gone in the world, or whatever we do, we are always proud to call Wakefield district One to One
