Sigvaldi Fridarsonur

Artist

What I do:

I am a multi-disciplinary artist working sculpture, Haiku poetry, photography and art. I have had many exhibitions in South Africa, Portugal, England and Iceland. I have had over 20 books published and have a considerable list of media mentions, as well as international awards. I have a BSc in engineering and a BA in fine art (from Sheffield Hallam in 2020).

What steps I took to get where I am now:

Worked very hard and persistently always believing that I was presenting good work. I will be holding a private view of my new portfolio of work in August 2022.

What creative opportunities I'm looking for:

I am presently very occupied with a new portfolio of sculpture (and have five pieces WIP) and would like to work with a gallery, client or foundry at producing items for public appreciation.

An unexpected thing about me:

I was born in Huddersfield, have an Icelandic name and was brought up in Zimbabwe.

My proudest moment:

Being asked to present an exhibition of my photography at the Embassy of Iceland in London.

My dream creative collaboration:

Working with the Hepworth Wakefield or the Henry Moore Institute.

What does Wakefield mean to me?
I have visited the gallery a number of times, always finding exhibitions of interest, studying every time the work of Barbara Hepworth and appreciating the consistent effort the gallery has made to bring sculpture to the public.
