Vicky Hughes

Illustrator

What I do:

I’m a freelance illustrator and specialise in character-filled, playful graphics which celebrate the outdoors, food, and adventure! I’ve worked with startups, magazines, and print and sell my own products.

What steps I took to get where I am now:

I spent 5 years working as a data analyst but packed it all in and went back to uni to study illustration! I’ve also attended all the evening classes, workshops and summer schools and am very proud to be where I am now.

What creative opportunities I'm looking for:

I’d love to work on: public mural art, branding for local business, editorial illustration for magazines, branding for local events and festivals, wholesale product orders for local shops.

An unexpected thing about me:

I spent last year living in a campervan. I’m in a house now though…

My proudest moment:

Quitting my sensible job and deciding to become an illustrator!

My dream creative collaboration:

Illustrated branding for a local community festival.

What does Wakefield mean to me?
Although I live in Leeds I have spent a lot of my life in Wakefield visiting my grandma, especially in the last few years of her life, so it is very special to me.
