Louise Allen

Artist, teacher. (She/her)

What I do:

I am an artist specialising in printmaking, mainly intaglio methods such as collagraph. My prints are based on detailed observational drawings, I do life drawing regularly and the figure features in my work along with other themes related to the environment.

What steps I took to get where I am now:

My initial training was as a graphic and interior designer and I worked in these fields before becoming a teacher of Media Studies and Art and design at St Wilfrid’s Catholic Highschool in North Featherstone. Since leaving teaching I have undertaken an MA in creative practice at Leeds arts university to develop my printmaking practice.

What creative opportunities I'm looking for:

Opportunities to exhibit, commissions, collaborations, workshops for adults.

My dream creative collaboration:

Working with dancers or athletes to develop the theme of movement in my print making.

What does Wakefield mean to me?
Wakefield is my home town, I was raised in Wakefield from 9 days old. It is the place in the world which I am most familiar with, where I know the most people and although I have moved away, I have always gravitated back. I attended Lawefield Lane primary
