Holly Greenwood
Illustrator & freelance print designer (She/Her)
I’m Holly! A freelance Illustrator and print designer living in Wakefield.
I run ‘Holly Greenwood Design’ my creative business where I design and sell illustrated home and gift products. I sell my products online, at art markets & events and through local stockists.
I also create personalised artworks for customers such as pet portraits and bespoke illustrations. Alongside my creative business I also do various bits of freelance print design and run creative painting workshops!
I have always loved painting and being creative, so as soon as I could, I went to Leeds College of Art where I studied a Foundation diploma in Art & Design. I then went on to complete a degree at Leeds Arts University in Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern.
After leaving university I went to work in a local high school as a reprographics and display assistant. To keep the creative juices flowing I started making illustrated greetings cards and got some digital prints made of my paintings to sell on Etsy. These went down really well and it was then I decided to give it a go working for myself!
I continued to grow my business, creating new collections, products and taking on more freelance work, creating print designs, painting murals attending art markets and events. I also started gaining more customers and started doing custom illustration work such as pet portraits.
Two years later I was going full time self employed! I absolutely love being a creative small business owner, getting to work on different products, sharing my work with the world and getting to do what I love for a living which is making art!
I am open to any freelance illustration and print design opportunities that come my way!
I also have experience in running painting workshops and would love to get involved with more community led art projects.
My skills include painting, digital illustration, print & pattern design and murals so if you have an idea that needs illustrating, a print design for fashion or interiors, a wall that would look amazing with a hand painted mural.. I can help!
If your creative project doesn’t fit perfectly into my expertise then I would still love to hear, working on new projects and expanding my portfolio is something I am always looking to do.
I have a huge greyhound called paddy!
Definitely taking the leap to leave my part time job and run my business full time. It’s hard work, but so rewarding and fun! I am really proud that I am able to do my favourite thing- making art as a job.
Working with more small creative/local businesses! I recently did some print designs for a local baby wear brand and loved that!
I would also love to work with more interior brands, seeing one of my prints on wallpaper or soft furnishings would be amazing.
I would love to stock some of my products in well established local places such as the Hepworth!
